Beauty Supply Store (BSS) Hair

The hair sold in beauty supply stores is Non-Remy hair. Non-Remy hair has been stripped by using an acid-bath, which is what causes the hair to tangle, mat, and become difficult to manage. There are many brands that work well, its just a matter of finding the brand that works for you.  I would recommend BSS hair if the price tag for Remy hair is too extreme and/or you like to change up your hair styles often. 

Straight Hair

• In my opinion, 100% human hair works best for straight styles. With human hair, unlimited amounts of heat can be use, but not recommended.

• The possibilities are endless with 100% human hair. It can be flat ironed, hot curled and you can use rollers and/or perm rods to achieve curls without using heat.

• Human and synthetic blend hair works okay. When using this hair, very low heat is recommended. It is less expensive, but will not last as long as 100% human hair.

• It is easy to blend straight weave with your hair as long as you select the right texture of hair.

Wet and Wavy Hair

• I recommend 100% human hair when using Wet and Wavy Hair.

• This hair can be worn straight and wavy.

• The more water used on the hair the better it looks.

• There are many different wavy patterns to choose from.

• Do not purchase the cheapest hair in the store.  Some of the cheaper brand will not get as wavy as the company claims. 

Wavy/Curly Hair

• I recommend 100% human hair for this type of style.

• Human and synthetic blend hair also works well, depending on the brand.

• If there is a noticeable difference between your hair and the extensions, I recommend getting a full sew-in with no hair left out. This way, you would not have to worry about blending your hair with the extensions.

• This hair is great for ladies with little or no time to style their hair daily. 

Remy Hair

Remy hair is collected directly from a single hair donor and has been arranged so that all the cuticles are facing the same direction. This is what keeps the hair from getting tangled.  It is generally believed that Remy hair the best on the market.

Quality Categories (based on processing and length grading)

• Virgin Remy hair is considered the best for use in wigs and extensions. It has not been chemically treated in any way. This hair is 100% natural.

• Non Virgin Remy hair has been through some chemical processing. The most common processing involves changing the color of the hair. It can also be relaxed.  Please keep in mind, this is NOT the hair that is sold in the beauty supply store. 

Quality Categories (based on hair length per weft/track)

• Single drawn Remy hair is made up of hairs of all different lengths as it grows naturally on the head. The cuticles are intact and these pieces look very natural.

• Double drawn Remy hair is sorted so that all the hairs in a weft are within one or two inches in length. You can also purchase Remy hair sorted so that all of the strands are of the exact same length.

• Indian Remy hair is the most popular choice because it is of a texture and color that can be easily matched to people from all around the world and of different ethnic backgrounds.

• Brazil Remy hair is the next most popular choice. The blend of European and Native American ancestors produces hair that is thick and suitable for people from different races.

• European Remy hair is also very commonly used.
